Whitewater events and festivals will be vital to the success of the Skowhegan River Park, as they will attract paddlers and spectators who will not only spend time at park, but also shop, eat, play, and stay overnight at locally owned businesses in Skowhegan and Somerset County.

In the meantime, Skowhegan annually hosts River Fest, a multi-day event to celebrate recreation and life on the Kennebec—and to highlight the potential of the gorge as the future home of the Skowhegan River Park.

Main Street Skowhegan also hosts the occasional support paddle, encouraging people to join them in the gorge for a float to Cleaver Boat Landing.
