The downtown riverfront boardwalk will offer striking views of the gorge and park activity. During festivals and competitions, the boardwalk will be a prime viewing location.
Connecting the River to Downtown
The boardwalk will be constructed along the edge of the gorge, encouraging downtown businesses to develop the back sides of their buildings and revitalizing Skowhegan’s historic riverfront.
Trail Network
A network of connected trails will strengthen links between downtown, surrounding neighborhoods, and the forests, rivers, and open spaces that define the Skowhegan region.
River Restoration
Environmental restoration efforts, including the removal of long-standing bridge debris, will improve fish habitat and river health while creating new opportunities for recreation, education, and stewardship along the Kennebec River.
